So this is the 7th year I havn’t been home to celebrate Chinese New Year! I cant believe, time has passed so quickly. So yeah, I havnt had proper reunion meal or visiting relatives during this festive seasons for such a long time. I can’t recall what it feels like to wake up on new year’s day to wish my family happy chinese new year, and be given Ang Paus’ in return haha.
Tonight I had so much to eat, I feel like I am going to need maternity clothes soon, with my belly bulging out!! Haha!
So, this year my sister came to visit me, so we had a little reunion dinner for the 2 of us. We had 3 simple dishes – eggs fried with onions, stir fry carrots with lettuce, and lemon chicken. Eventhough it was simple, but it was still very yummy!!

Im so proud of myself, so far we only had takeaway once – Pizza hut on one afternoon, got to treat ourselves since we cook every night without fail.
So after researching Online degree completion programs, we starting cracking our heads to think of what to have for tea! For some reasons, my sister thinks the prawns here taste a lot better, more fresh and juicier. So everytime when we do our grocery shopping, we wont fail to buy raw king prawns. Check out our dish – Ginger and garlic stir fry king prawns with asparagus.

All of them have been infected by virus, but because of my minimal knowledge in computers, I have no clue what is going on. All I know is it has affected the traffic drastically, and there is a warning everything I try to go into the websites. Pain!
So I have been spending several weeks working with people to fix those virus. Apparently they were found in my plugins on wordpress. I never knew if you dont update your plugins from time to time it can also happen. So it is all fixed now, websites back on running, I am glad! pheww.

Its been 4 weeks since the day I came back from Malaysia, and I still havn’t had a take away yet! That is a very good start, dont you think?
What about you? Do you cook everyday, or are you like some of the british here, have takeaways at least once a week?
December 28th, 2011 by Mei | No Comments »Hmm, where should I celebrate new year??
Stay in Torquay? Go back to Bath? Or go somewhere Iv not been before?
I’v worked through xmas, so Iv got new year’s off! Yay. And since my sister is here visiting, planning a trip away from Torquay for the weekend sounds like a good idea, right?
Hopefully there is fireworks on new year’s eve, then it would be perfect! Im also considering Oxford, since both my sister and I have not been before. Whee.. love planning! A bit last minute though, hopefully not too last minute! Haha

I have always wanted to try it, but had no chance, the last time I went down to Plymouth was for a friend’s birthday, and we had steamboat. So last weekend, on a Sunday, I suggested that we go to Pan Asia. After chatting to a friend about a random topic on laboratory furnaces, we then head to Pan Asia at 4pm.
Whats the verdict? Good or bad?
Well to me, it was above average of course! You can never find a proper asian restaurant in a small town like Torquay!! There are a huge variety of food, ranging from a japanese corner serving sushi, and sashimi, tepenyakki station with your choice of seafood, chinese stir fries, indian corner with various curries, nann bread, and popadoms, finger food, cold station for salad and fruits, and finally desserts, ice cream and a chocolate fondue.
It is not too bad, for the price we paid. £11 per person, you can stay there for 2 hours. No bad huh?
December 20th, 2011 by Mei | No Comments »So my cottage pie is all gone now, time to cook again. Boy, I hate it when I have to think what to cook for tea! Thank god, I am only cooking for myself, I eat almost anything.
I decided to have rice instead of potatoes as my main carbo for the next 2 days, hence potato, leeks and chicken stir fry in oyster sauce, served with rice.
It does look like a huge portion, but that only lasted for 2 meals! Even so, I had to fry 2 eggs to go with it, or else Id be hungry by bed time! The cold does make one hungry easily, dont you think? What you had for tea?

I walk around in Plymouth town centre in search of alec bradley gift for my uncle, checking out the xmas stalls, have a cup of mulled wine whilst waiting for my friends to finish work. Met up with them to have dinner and hakka restaurant, visiting for the 2nd time.
After dinner, we went to the arcade centre for pool game, followed by desserts at frankie and bennys. Finally we went over to ours friends for UNO card game. Boy, it was fun! I hvn’t played UNO since last year xmas, I think!
We stayed up till about 3am and call it a day. It was indeed a simple, but fun filled day.

Back to cooking now, and tonight I made cottage pie. Its easy to make, but it sure takes up lots of time! It took me 2 hours to prepare this! But the thing I like about cottage/shepphards pie is that I can cook a tray that can last me for 4 meals!
Instead of using mince lamb, I use minced beef for cottage pie, a lot more affordable than lamb. A pack of mince beef only costs £2, and that is more than enough to dish out for 4 meals! Good and cheap eh? I do add some cheddar cheese on top just because I love melted cheese on my mash! Ha-ha.
